AMCC TOUTS INNOVATIVE 3WARE RAID SOLUTIONS FOR AUDIO, VIDEO AND BROADCAST APPLICATIONS AT NAB 2007

Company Showcases Award Winning 3ware® 9650SE RAID Controllers and 3ware Sidecar External Storage Expansion with PC and Mac® Support, Previews Expanded Connectivity with SAS Technology Demonstration

LAS VEGAS, Nev., April 16, 2007 – Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) [NASDAQ: AMCC] will demonstrate its industry leading RAID technology in product demos that will spotlight true hardware RAID in solutions ranging from the desktop to the data center beginning today at the 2007 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB)SM show. The product demonstrations highlight the performance, value, and storage density offered by the 3ware 9650SE, the newest 3ware Serial ATA RAID controller featuring RAID 6. The demonstrations will be shown in the AMCC booth #N1538 at NAB in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 16-19.

AMCC’s 3ware Sidecar, an external RAID storage solution targeted toward the audio, video and broadcast prosumer, offers unmatched data protection for creative content producers using PC workstations, the Apple® Mac Pro™, and Power Mac® G5. Visitors to AMCC’s booth will see independent music producer Stephen Burich using the 3ware Sidecar for audio recording and playback in a multi track music production demo. Burich will demonstrate the 3ware Sidecar’s superior performance and data availability by reading and writing audio files to the storage solution, creating original works in real time.

Mr. Burich has made the 3ware Sidecar an indispensable component of his production house, integrating the solution as his primary storage devise for large audio and video projects. “Before installing the Sidecar, I had to backup to either DVDs or a separate PC with a tape drive,” said Burich. “The sheer size of the video storage files made backup a continuous nightmare. I can work with either a Mac or PC and safely store up to 16, 24-bit tracks without exceeding the 3ware Sidecar’s capacity.”

Rorke Data® will be giving away a 3ware Sidecar at NAB. Register to win in either the AMCC or the Rorke Data booth (#SL3714). “We are delighted to partner with AMCC,” said Joe Rorke vice president of marketing and business development for Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Rorke Data, Inc. “AMCC’s innovative RAID products are well suited to meet the demands of digital video producers who require high performance and scalability for their storage-intensive applications and work flows.”

The new 24-port 3ware 9650SE-24M8 RAID controller will also be showcased in a system that uses two controllers connected to 48 high capacity SATA drives to create a RAID storage solution to satisfy the most demanding storage application requirements. 24M8 delivers RAID 6 throughput speeds of over 700MB/s, up to 300 percent faster than competing controllers.

Making the Transition to SAS
The industry’s transition to Serial-attached SCSI (SAS) will provide expanded connectivity options for audio and video producers who demand greater scalability for their digital media applications. AMCC will preview the functionality of its 3ware RAID controllers extended to support SAS in a system that delivers expanded connectivity and reliability ideal for highly transactional applications.

“We are pleased to use NAB as the venue to demonstrate how AMCC continues to drive storage technology with innovations that deliver the performance, value and density that customers demand,” said Scott Cleland, director of marketing for AMCC Storage. “It’s evident by the number of 3ware customers participating at NAB that our SATA RAID solutions are ideal for high bandwidth broadcast applications.”
