Rorke Data Teams with Telestream to Deliver StreamLinx ™ at NAB 2003
New Application Enables Cost-effective Integration of Post Production and Broadcast Server Digital Storage Environments

Monday April 7th,Las Vegas,Nevada,National Association of Broadcasters Convention (NAB Booth#SL107),Rorke Data,a subsidiary of San Jose-based Bell Microproducts,Inc. (NASDAQ:BELM),and a leader in SAN,RAID,and Archive storage solutions for the digital Post- Production and Broadcast industries announced the release of StreamLinx ™.Unveiled at NAB 2003 for world wide distribution by Rorke authorized resellers,StreamLinx is a new application module that complements Rorke Data ’s highly regarded StreamMine ™ broadcast server storage archive solution and ImageSAN ™;Rorke ’s SAN solution for professional film and video editors. StreamLinx integrates Telestream ’s FlipFactory ™ to enable shared data storage and seamless file format exchange between heterogeneous broadcast server platforms and multiple NLE application environments.

“From a workflow, and underlying storage infrastructure perspective, the average facility ’s postproduction area was effectively cut-off from the video server and play-out environment. This is due both to file format incompatibility between systems,as well as the prevalence of proprietary storage in either environment,” said Joe Rorke,,Vice President of Marketing, for Rorke Data. “StreamLinx allows the facility to choose the edit applications and server platforms it needs based on industry expertise and client requirements within the context of a seamless data storage environment. Our storage approach is open and scalable,so as new NLE applications and server platforms come along, the StreamLinx infrastructure, together with Telestream, will support the addition of new systems, applications, and file formats.”

“The StreamLinx module allows us to make bi-directional file transfers between Non Linear Editing systems and Broadcast and Ingest servers ” said Christopher Stone, Rorke Data ’s Broadcast Product Manager.”The Telestream product automates the process giving us a lot of flexibility in designing a complete system for customers”.

”The capability to deploy in mulit-platforrm environments matches real world customer requirements, said David Heppe,Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Telestream.”Broadcast facilities are likely candidates in today ’s corporate merge and consolidate environment, and the man ate that legacy equipment must integrate with the new systems applies everywhere. With Telestream, Rorke ’s StreamLinx solution provides an agnostic, scalable infrastructure to meet the complex integration challenges.”

StreamLinx offers support for a wide range of MPEG modules for Thomson/GVG,Pinnacle, Leitch,SeaChange,Omneon,Panasonic and Sony as well as all of the major NLE editing suites including Apple Final Cut Pro, Pinnacle, Media100, Matrox, DPX and Adobe. StreamLinx unites a wide range of video server platforms and non-linear e iting systems when integrated with Rorke Data ’s StreamMine and ImageSAN systems.

Please visit Rorke Data ’s Booth #SL107 at NAB, April 7th-11th 2003,to see how StreamLinx enables end-to-end storage workflow, from ingest and edit,to broadcast and archive.
