AJA Video Systems’ Kona SD Card Debuts SAN Solution for Mac OS X™ with Rorke Data’s ImageSan™ OSX

South San Francisco, CA (Feb. 11, 2003): AJA Video Systems today announced that Kona SD, using Rorke Data’s ImageSAN OSX to provide a high-speed SAN environment for collaborative work, was debuted at the 9th Annual Snader Video Solutions Expo held at the South San Francisco Convention Center.

At the Expo, AJA featured multiple Kona SD non-linear editing systems using Apple’s Final Cut Pro™ non linear editing software connected to a Rorke Data ImageSAN storage solution. Lisa Walker, manager of technical services at Snader expressed, "our post production customers will find that this Storage Area Network solution allows them (editors) to collaborate more efficiently and effectively by sharing the same files without the time consuming process of copying and moving data to individual workstations. The ImageSAN solution is an excellent compliment to the AJA Kona non-linear editing environment, providing multiple users a fully integrated workflow."

This is the first time where Kona SD is being used with a SAN file management application specially designed for the Mac OS X platform. It is a “long-awaited solution that our customers have needed to enable multiple Kona SD workstations to work together on a storage area network based on Mac OS X,” said John Abt, president of AJA Video Systems. “Rorke Data’s ImageSAN has made possible new options for our large, or small, customers who wish to take advantage of the powerful Mac OS X and Kona SD for their post-production requirements.”

Kona SD, together with ImageSAN OSX, provide a complete SAN solution for non-linear editing on Mac OS X. “The use of ImageSAN and AJA’s Kona SD on a Mac OS X enable file sharing which can translate into decreased costs and increased productivity, and ultimately could result in increased creativity,” said Bob Herzan, vice president of sales for Rorke Data’s Video & Broadcast Division.
