Chicago, IL, GraphExpo 2000, Booth #1435, September 24, 2000 — Rorke Data, Inc. has announced that it will introduce a new line of NT servers developed specifically for the high-bandwidth requirements of the prepress and publishing markets. The new Rorke-branded servers will give users in these markets the opportunity to purchase complete, turnkey SAN/server configurations from one qualified vendor, said a Rorke spokesperson. The new systems will be exhibited at Rorke's GraphExpo booth #1435 in Chicago, IL, September 24 – 27, 2000.
Joe Rorke, VP Marketing, Rorke Data, said the new Rorke series of NT servers integrates Rorke's Fibre-Channel RAID storage, SAN components, and scalable tape or DVD-RAM archive products with various software packages, creating a dedicated open server system for the prepress market.
"This product line was fueled by our acquisition by Bell Microproducts in recent months," said Joe Rorke. "The combination of Bell's buying power on the OEM level with companies such as Intel, combined with Rorke's workflow and system integration expertise, made the development and marketing of these systems feasible for our reseller channel."
"Rorke can now deliver SAN, infrastructure, and a variety of application servers," added Robert Hill, National Sales Manager of Rorke's Prepress & Publishing Division, announcing the addition of the NT servers to Rorke's product lines. "Rorke Data's worldwide ability to provide Fibre-Channel SAN-based solutions for high-bandwidth storage and networking applications for specific vertical markets like digital publishing will now be complemented with the addition of a full line of NT server products. The NT solution adds to our overall SAN implementation plan of providing multiple "open" platforms for our customers' various server needs."
As a new division of Bell Microproducts, Rorke is well positioned to fulfil the SAN needs of the prepress market, said Phil Roussey, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Bell Microproducts. "The synergy between Bell and Rorke is one of powerful purchasing power and distribution with world-class technical expertise," said Roussey. "Bell Microproducts has the means to supply both NT server and Fibre-Channel system components at advantageous price points, while Rorke's people are the workflow, SAN and prepress experts, developing systems that meet the international market's requirements."
A Rorke Data spokesperson said the company will unveil the new NT servers at GraphExpo 2000 in Chicago, with production quantities set to ship by November 2000.
