Eden Prairie, MN, September 12, 2000 – Rorke Data, Inc., a subsidiary of Bell Mircoproducts (NASDAQ: BELM), announced today that Media 100 Inc. (NASDAQ: MDEA), the leading provider of software, systems and services for streaming media on the Internet, has selected Rorke Data to develop sophisticated, powerful storage area network solution to manage the exploding demand for streaming media encoding and hosting services of its streaming media services division, Streamriver Networks. As demand for Streamriver Networks' services continues to grow with its expanding client base, Rorke Data Systems will provide the scaleable hardware, software and support of a custom-designed SAN solutions specifically tailored to manage the stringent demands of Media 100's large, and expanding streaming media services operation.

"Streamriver Networks has designed a highly innovative approach to streaming media services, leveraging leading-edge streaming media technologies in our state-of-the-art service centers across the country," said Jim Baker, managing director, Streamriver Networks division of Media 100.  "Implementing a streaming media-tailored SAN solution is radical leap forward in streaming services technology. StudioNet-FC has significantly increased our throughput and daily capacity, while laying the foundation for a fully automated process that minimizes manual intervention. Rorke Data has been instrumental in researching and fulfilling Streamriver's requirements for this process.

The StudioNet-FC SAN solution integrates both the Streaming applications
developed by Streamriver with high-end, Streaming Media Production systems
developed by Media 100.

At the heart of the StudioNet-FC's new scalability and performance is the substantial upgrades inherent to Rorke Data's just released Galaxy 55 Fibre Channel RAID solution. The Galaxy 55's new chipset and unique firmware allows users to have increased speed and scalability by incorporating dual six-channel Fibre-to-Fibre RAID controllers (two host channels/four disk channels), HSSDC copper connections, and two built-in 2-port hubs. The StudioNet-FC system provides open, scalable fibre channel RAID storage (500GBs to over 7TBs), as well as integration with either tape-based, or DVD-RAM archiving systems.
