Eden Prairie, Mn., August 3, 2000 Rorke Data, Inc., a leader in Fibre Channel SAN and data storage solutions for the healthcare industry, announced today that Konica Medical Imaging will feature Rorkes storage libraries, including its AIT technology, as the primary archive product for the companys NetStar PACs solution.
Randy Mattingly, Senior Product Manager at Konica, said Rorke's libraries are an ideal fit with Konica's Phased Approach to medical imaging solutions. "Rorke's storage libraries round out our hardware requirements for our long-term archiving needs," said Mattingly. "Not only does Rorke supply quality products, but they emphasize system and solution integration, which means extra value for Konica Medical Imaging customers."
Konic's NetStar Image Management solutions offers a phased implementation approach towards PACS: Print Management upgrades existing diagnostic modalities and laser imagers to network compatibility; Remote Access forwards studies to on-call radiologists and transmits studies from satellite clinics to main radiology departments; Clinical Access distributes studies to selected points of care where they are displayed for review; and Diagnostic Access adds Diagnostic Workstations and Image Archives for radiologists to interpret and store studies digitally.
Offered as a component of Konica's NetStar system, Konica¹s Archival Solutions are targeted towards customers who manage large, data-intensive, digital file environments.  Rorke¹s series of scalable storage libraries has been designed for the image-intensive, high-bandwidth storage requirements required in specific cardiology applications.  The new RTL (AIT)  library systems offer increased capacity, high reliability, very low cost/MB and in addition, can now be configured with Fibre Channel connectivity for future implementation into a cutting-edge SAN environment.
"Rorke Data is very excited to be working with Konica," said Joe Rorke, VP Marketing, "especially since their NetStar and archival solutions are a perfect match for our data storage solutions, which were specifically designed for high capacity/high bandwidth applications such as medical imaging."
By incorporating Sony¹s AIT2 tape drive technology with additional tape drives and tape cartridges, the RTL Series of libraries has a capacity range of 250GB to over 18TB of non-compressed data storage.  Offering true in-the-field expandability, the RTL Series is available in configurations with as few as 10 cartridges and a single AIT drive to systems with over 360 cartridges and up to 12 drives.
