File Server Requirements (v3.x)

Processor

  • type: Pentium III or Pentium 4, including Xeon and Celeron
  • single or dual processors
  • 850 MHz minimum speed

Operating System

  • Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Advanced Server
  • Service Pack 3
  • Microsoft Server Appliance Kit  (creating a Windows Powered NAS solution) - optional
  • Microsoft Services for UNIX  (creating a NFS volume) - optional

RAID / Hard Disk

  • 10MB space required on primary operating system partition
  • dedicated dynamic volume (logical drive letter) required for files under XenData management

RAM

  • 384 MB minimum

SCSI Card

  • Adaptec AIC-7899,  29160,  29160LP or 39160*
  • SCSI card dedicated to tape library - strongly recommended but not required

*Note with the Adaptec 39160, HostRAID mode must be disabled in the BIOS.

NIC

  • 100 Base T or Copper Gigabit Ethernet
