 The dual-processor Sun Fire V20z server, first in a new line of AMD Opteron-based servers from Sun, delivers high performance, reliability, and scalability in a low-cost, ultra-dense, rack-optimized 1U form factor. With a single architecture, the Sun Fire V20z server supports both 32-bit and 64-bit computing, allowing you to maintain your existing x86 infrastructure while still enabling a smooth migration to next-generation 64-bit operating systems and applications.
Delivering a compelling price/performance solution, the Sun Fire V20z server features an integrated memory controller, up to 16 GB of memory, up to two Ultra320 SCSI hard drives, dual on-board Gigabit Ethernet, and Lights Out Management. This set of features is ideal for a wide range of applications, including high-performance technical computing, Web or application serving, database management, and grid computing.
The Sun Fire V20z server also offers exceptional flexibility and choice through support of multiple operating systems, including 32-bit Solaris 9 4/04 x86 Platform Edition, 32/64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3, and 64-bit SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8. The Solaris Operating System (x86 Platform Edition) in 64-bit will be available soon. As an added benefit, Sun offers complete system support when you purchase Linux or the Solaris OS (x86 Platform Edition).
