What's new from Rorke?

Rorke Data's 4Gbit to SATA II Galaxy HDX2 RAID with a new performance-enhanced controller supporting high def HD 1080i, RGB 4:4:4 on only one host channel connection, eliminating the need for striping RAID sets.

What's so great about that?

Stripping RAID sets is done only for performance sake. Now with our new higher performing Galaxy HDX 266MHz controller with 4Gbit Fibre interface, we eliminate the need to stripe; simplifying the file structure and greatly reducing the chance of failure. This increases seek times resulting in greater performance in a SAN environment or point to point solution.

What else is new about the Galaxy HDX2?

The new Galaxy HDX2 controller supports RAID 6.

What's so great about that?

RAID 6 technology uses two parity drives. As new SATA drive capacities become larger, the risk of multiple drives failing in a RAID have increased during degrade and rebuild modes, RAID 6 offers a new level of data protection while you are working. If a drive fails during a rebuild, a second parity drive already exists to save your data.
